Hi Ladies & Gents, I know I know, its been a while, but lots has happened in the month of June 2015. But I am back stronger and most tired as ever :-/, but this is my get away and I love cooking, its my therapy, so here is a recipe greeks have been cooking in their households forever. Its called giouvetsi and its really yummy and fast, sorry if I say fast to every meal, but it really doesnt need much effort or keeping track of temps and watching it, like a turkey at thanksgiving :). So the recipe calls for tomato paste also, but I was out of tomato paste and just simply made it without it. It tasted as delicious as it looks and I would definitely make it without tomato paste again. You can add any kind of meat you like or make it vegetarian, but the authentic greek giouvetsi has lamb meat in it. Trying to make this post while cooking, watching my daughter and niece and being tired like a dog, it is really a treat to sit here and share my recipes with you-btw my food just spilled all over the pot :-/.
Ingeredients used:
- 500 gr ground beef
- 1 medium white onion
- 500 gr medium size orzo in greek “kritharaki”
- 2 tbs tomato paste if desired
- 200gr shredded Emmentaler
- salt/ pepper / garlic powder / red pepper powder

Ingredients used- I wanted to use the pickled red peppers in the ground meat mixture, but ended up not to.

Yum
